Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

At the moment, we are private pay only and do not accept insurance. However, we are happy to provide you with an invoice for therapy, or “superbill” with all the pertinent information for you to submit to your insurance provider if you wish to seek reimbursement. Please contact your insurance to confirm out-of-network services.

I’m concerned about my child’s speech and language. How do I know if he/she needs an evaluation?

Please feel free to reach out to us to explain your concerns. We offer a free 30 minute phone consultation where we can further discuss your concerns and determine if a comprehensive evaluation is needed.

How long are therapy sessions?

An initial evaluation typically lasts for 60-90 minutes, depending on the age and the needs of the child.  Subsequent therapy sessions are provided at 30 or 45 minute time blocks. Frequency and duration of therapy sessions will be determined based on the results of the evaluation and the family’s priorities.

Where do therapy sessions take place?

Services conveniently take place in the comfort of your own home. Virtual services are also available.

Can my child receive services through Hudson Heights Pediatric Speech if he/she had an evaluation done elsewhere?

Yes. If the evaluation was conducted within the last 6 months, an updated evaluation is not needed. We will use the first few sessions to conduct diagnostic therapy to update goals if needed.

My child didn't qualify for Early Intervention from the state of New York, can you still work with them?

To make sure they can give services to those who need them most, the state has tight guidelines for the degree of delay or disability. However, even if your child does not qualify for Early Intervention, they might still benefit from speech and language therapy. Private speech and language therapy helps address any specific worries you may have.
